Khowabnama is an impeccable epic of rural life. The language of the Bogra region is used extensively in this novel. The events of the period 1945 / 46-48 / 49 are described in Khowabnama. In the novel, the author has taken the community. But even within this community, a few characters are making significant inroads. Tamiz and Tamiz’s father are two opposite characters in the novel. Tamiz is active; Tamiz’s father is inactive. Tamiz cultivates oranges on other people’s land with wages, cultivates other people’s land, dreams that one day he will cultivate on his own land.
On the other hand, Tamiz’s father is a mysterious and strange character. He wanders around Haita at night in his sleep, pulling his neck as much as he can on the bottom of Katlahar Beel and looking up at Takaya Munsir. Munshi ruled the bill all night with a seat in the palm tree.
Throughout the novel there is a use of rural myths and fairy tales. Another achievement of Elias is the successful use of magic realism in rural life.
